Two entrepreneurs from Ulaanbaatar, one of whom owns a brewery and the other manages coal and copper mining, decided to acquire vehicles for long off-road trips. Their choice fell on a pair of identical six-wheeled Mercedes Zetros 6x6 vehicles, which should become a comfortable home on wheels for extended hunting excursions in the Altai steppes. This information was shared by the publication Auto-motor-und-sport.

Inside each vehicle, two rooms, a kitchen unit, and a bathroom are equipped, while high cross-country capability is maintained. Specialists from the companies Hartmann from Alsfeld and Huenerkopf from Neukirchen worked on creating these vehicles. In the front part, there is a living room with a leather sofa for six people, which can be folded out into a sleeping place if necessary.

The bedroom is located in the rear part. Next to it is a bathroom with a heated marble floor, which provides additional comfort. To ensure that travelers do not feel cut off from the outside world, a retractable satellite dish is provided, which sends a signal to two screens with a diagonal of 40 and 60 inches. There is also a Wi-Fi router for internet access.

The kitchen is equipped with a gas stove with a glass-ceramic surface, a microwave, a grill, and a refrigerator. Power supply is provided by a diesel generator that charges four batteries with a capacity of 220 amp-hours each. It also powers individual air conditioners in each room. For water, separate tanks are provided for drinking and technical water with a total volume of about 250 liters. Drinking water undergoes additional purification through a filter. A separate pump allows replenishing water supplies, for example, from natural sources.

Under the hood of the three-axle Zetros, a 7.2-liter diesel engine with a power of 326 horsepower and a torque of 1300 Nm is installed. It is paired with a nine-speed gearbox with a reduction gear, permanent all-wheel drive, and three differential locks — this set allows confident movement across the Gobi Desert. The range is provided by tanks for 500 liters of fuel, which is important for Mongolia, which is four times larger in area than Germany, but with a population of 2.7 million people remains the most sparsely populated country in the world. In case of dense traffic, a powerful pneumatic horn and red-blue flashing beacons are installed to keep other road users away.
