Such vehicles were presented as part of a demonstration of a number of weapon and equipment samples offered for adoption by the Ukrainian armed forces. This is not the first display of such equipment. But if in previous times they were shown no more than for familiarization, now there is a concrete proposal.
In a statement from the press service of the "Bogdan" corporation, it was stated that production of dual-purpose Hyundai vehicles is being launched in Cherkasy. This can be called a new stage in the cooperation of the Korean company with the "Bogdan" corporation.
Why might the military choose these particular vehicles? As Yuriy Kulyk, head of the department in the automotive development and procurement division of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, said: "An analysis of the current state of the army's automotive equipment supply revealed a complete absence of vehicles with a load capacity of 1 to 5 tons." The military chooses Hyundai, considering the optimal price-quality ratio. In addition, it is important to consider that these will be domestically assembled vehicles.
The military were presented for consideration with Hyundai trucks of the HD65 and 120 models, and the army 2.5-ton KIA KM250A truck with a 6x6 wheel arrangement. And the KIA KM420 military jeep with a 4x4 wheel arrangement is a modern replacement for the morally outdated UAZs.
