The station wagon, known under the code name Lada R90, was first shown to the public at the Moscow Auto Show last year.

"Assembly of the first of five units will take about a week, after which production rates will be increased. It will take us three days to create the fifth car. The lines are already prepared: first we ran the suspension on them, then the bodies, we eliminated any problems that arose, and now the employees are ready to launch the body onto the first thread of the main conveyor to begin assembly of 'pilot-1'. Within a month we expect to produce all five prototypes," said Mikhail Ryabov, head of the B0 project at AvtoVAZ, on Vaz-TV.

According to Interfax, work on the first pilot vehicle on the B0 platform started on June 2. It also became known that during a visit of representatives of the Renault-Nissan alliance to the Togliatti enterprise, an agreement on technical partnership between Nissan and the automaker was signed regarding the production of plastic parts.

"We see significant potential for AvtoVAZ to become the most efficient automaker in Russia, and Nissan intends to actively help the plant achieve this goal," noted Nissan Executive Vice President Colin Dodge.

It is worth recalling that serial production of the Lada R90, built on the basis of the Renault Logan (B0), is planned for the second quarter of 2012. The price of the new product is expected to range from 340 to 420 thousand rubles.
