Seat is releasing a crossover for the first time in its history — the Ateca model (not counting the Altea Freetrack and Leon X-Perience). The company considers the current-generation Nissan Qashqai to be the main rival for the new model.

The car is based on the "Volkswagen" MQB platform, which also underpins the second-generation VW Tiguan. The Ateca will be offered with both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive.

Diesel enthusiasts will be offered two options — 1.6 and 2.0 liters with outputs of 113 and 187 horsepower, respectively. Transmissions — six-speed manual or a dual-clutch robot.
