Brand new Fords will replace Toyota Prius – many of the Japanese hybrids have already become outdated by now, and some of the vehicles were damaged by law enforcement in accidents. It is expected that the States will send several hundred such cars to Ukraine.
US representatives emphasized that they decided to hand over exactly the Ford Police Interceptor Sedan to Ukraine, since they have already been "tested" on our roads and have proven themselves well. After all, for many years Ukrainians have been buying these cars as "wrecks" at American auctions (see photo), then restoring them and happily using them for many years.
Currently, the Ford Police Interceptor Sedan (translated as Ford police interceptor sedan) is the main car of American police officers along with the Ford Police Interceptor Utility SUV, although it is no longer produced – production of the model was discontinued in 2019. The Interceptor Sedan is built on the basis of the civilian Ford Taurus sedan, under the hood of the car – a 3.5-liter V6, there was also a 3.7-liter modification of this engine. Most likely, such a powerful unit will appeal to Ukrainian patrol officers, especially against the background of the low-power Prius, but there are also disadvantages – the burden on the budget will increase, since refueling the all-wheel-drive Ford of American "cops" is quite a luxury.
