Based on the results of the first quarter, the French brand Renault became the leader of the Ukrainian car market. From January to March, 2,554 new cars of this brand were registered in Ukraine. Compared to the same period last year, sales of Renault passenger cars in the country increased by 47 percent. Among Renault models, the RENAULT Duster crossover was the most popular, accounting for 1,151 issued license plates.
The second place in the ranking was taken by Toyota, with 2,186 registered cars. A year ago, this brand topped the list of leaders in the Ukrainian market. However, now Toyota failed to reach its last year's result, falling short by 14 percent. Among Toyota models, the TOYOTA RAV-4 crossover was the most frequently registered for the first time — 793 units.
The third place went to KIA, whose sales grew 2.5 times compared to the first quarter of 2018 and reached 1,702 cars. The main sales volume for the brand was provided by the KIA Sportage crossover, which was chosen by 1,169 buyers. Thanks to this, the KIA Sportage rightfully became the best-selling new passenger car in the Ukrainian market.
The fourth position was taken by Nissan: since the beginning of the year, Ukrainians purchased 1,391 new passenger cars of this Japanese brand, which is 11% more than last year. The most sought-after Nissan was the NISSAN X-Trail, which was purchased by 541 people.
The top five leaders of the first quarter are closed by Skoda with a result of 1,285 cars (+4%). The best sales within the brand are still demonstrated by the SKODA Octavia — 499 units over three months.
