The anniversary model was a silver station wagon in the GTE version, equipped with a hybrid powertrain consisting of a turbocharged 1.4 TSI engine producing 156 horsepower and an electric unit with 115 horsepower, integrated into a six-speed dual-clutch gearbox. In electric driving mode, such a Passat can cover about 55 km and already meets the Euro 6d environmental standards, which will only come into effect in 2021.
Currently, the Passat model is produced on three continents, with assembly organized at ten plants, and sales are conducted in more than a hundred countries. In terms of the total number of vehicles produced over 46 years under the Volkswagen Passat brand, it ranks second after the Golf model, which sold 35 million units over 45 years.
