In December, 9,179 new passenger cars were registered in Ukraine. Compared to December 2016, sales in this segment rose by 21 percent. Thus, the last month of the year turned out to be the most successful for the market over the entire past year.

Almost all twelve months, the segment of new passenger cars grew compared to the same periods of 2016. This trend emerged already in January, when registrations jumped by 51% compared to the first month of the previous year. The only exception was November, when demand for new cars was 0.7% lower than a year earlier.

In nine months out of twelve, Japanese Toyota held the market leadership. This brand also became the best-selling one at the end of the year. Over 2017, Toyota cars received 9,696 registration plates, which is 26% more than in 2016.

The second place, as expected, was taken by French Renault. It was this brand that three times during the year — in February, March, and December — rose to the top of the rating. At the end of the year, Renault showed a result of 8,671 registered cars, adding 36% to last year's figure.

The top three was closed by Volkswagen: its cars were chosen by 6,525 buyers. Compared to 2016, VW sales grew by 30 percent.

Next came Skoda — 5,675 cars, which is 37% more than a year earlier.

The top five is completed by KIA. The Korean brand managed to increase sales by 34% and finish the year with a result of 5,320 sold cars.
