August failed to beat June's sales record, which remains the most successful month of the summer — then dealers managed to sell about 6.9 thousand cars. However, compared to July, market demand grew by almost 3 percent.

Over the entire summer period, almost 20 thousand new passenger cars received license plates, which is a quarter more than last year's figures.

The leader of the August ranking was Toyota: buyers purchased 870 such cars. This is 28 percent more than in the same month of 2016.

Next came French Renault, whose result was 709 registrations of new cars — an increase of 28 percent compared to August last year.

Volkswagen confidently held the third place, selling 524 cars, which is 27 percent more.

Fourth place went to KIA with 435 cars (+8%), and the Czech Skoda closed the top five, with sales growing by 73% to 398 units.

The top ten most sought-after brands of the month also included: Nissan – 376 units (+45%), Hyundai – 311 units (+8%), Ford – 246 units (-42%), Mazda – 243 units (-1%), and BMW – 236 units (+29%).

The most popular new passenger car of August was the KIA Sportage — chosen by 275 buyers.
