The Safety Week is held within the framework of the Decade of Action for Road Safety, which was declared in the resolution of the UN General Assembly in March 2010. Reducing mortality on the roads is one of the main tasks of the event, because every year more than 1 million 300 thousand people die in road accidents worldwide, and 50 million are injured. It is worth considering that mostly people aged from 25 to 40 die, that is, in the active and working age.

During the Safety Week, round tables dedicated to road safety, scientific and practical conferences, and various preventive actions will be held. In addition, traffic police officers will conduct special preventive raids of an educational nature. That is, be prepared for an increase in patrols and increased attention from the state traffic inspectorate.
