The capital's KLO gas station chain has launched an initiative designed to introduce Kyiv residents to Ukraine: as part of the project, the company publishes guidebooks and distributes them free of charge at its filling stations. In addition, those who make it to the recommended cities will receive gifts.
"After conducting our own research, we found that residents of the capital and the region spend most weekends of the year within their home region. The reason is not laziness or reluctance to get out of the house — people simply do not see the point in traveling to Ukrainian cities, except for the already familiar Lviv, Odesa, and the like," comments KLO PR Director Polina Bashkina. "Liubech, Korosten, Ostroh, Novhorod-Siverskyi, or Novohrad-Volynskyi mean nothing to a modern Kyiv resident. To be honest, at first we ourselves did not feel much interest in these names, but after delving into the matter, we realized how much we lose due to ignorance of our own history and even geography. So we decided to act."
The presentation of the "KLO Weekend" was held in Zhytomyr — at the network's anniversary, fiftieth, filling station. The grand opening of this gas station took place with the participation of Mayor Volodymyr Deboi and KLO founder Viacheslav Steshenko.
Zhytomyr Mayor Volodymyr Deboi approved the idea of the "KLO Weekend" and suggested that it could become a starting point for the development of green tourism in Ukraine.
The new Zhytomyr complex is built using energy-efficient solutions: LED lighting consumes 5–10 times less energy than standard lamps, and solar panels are installed on the roof. The filling station also stands out with a fresh design solution that will be used in the construction of all new network facilities in the future. It also has its own lake — after landscaping, it will become a recreation area for local residents and visitors.
The gas station offers all types of fuel that KLO provides. The "Borshch" cafe serves home-style dishes, and the "Podorozhnyk" store offers more than 1,000 products for drivers. In the near future, plans include opening a car wash and a pharmacy.
