The new painting technology involves applying two layers to the car: first paint, then clear varnish. As a rule, this method is used exclusively for enamels with a "metallic" effect. Thanks to the special composition of the varnish, polymerization of the coating occurs when heated to 100 degrees, whereas the traditional method requires 150 degrees.
The main secret of Low Cure technology lies in the new hardener. It increases the coating's resistance to mechanical impacts, improves adhesion between layers, and gives the surface water-repellent properties.
An additional advantage of the method is the ability to paint the metal body together with carbon fiber parts. Previously, such elements had to be processed separately, which could cause the shade of different body parts to differ slightly.
Currently, Ferrari offers 61 shades of paint with glossy or matte varnish.
