The new generation Santa Fe received the highest safety rating Top Safety Pick+ from the American Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The main role in this was played by the updated frontal collision warning system and the automatic braking function capable of recognizing pedestrians.
“The optional frontal crash prevention system on the Santa Fe earned the highest rating of ‘superior’,” commented David Zuby, head of the IIHS research department. “The vehicle successfully passed track tests at speeds of 20 and 40 km/h, completely avoiding crashes. In addition, this system includes a collision warning signal that meets NHTSA standards.”
Representatives of Hyundai Motor America linked the successful crash test results to the fact that when developing the 2017 Santa Fe model, engineers were tasked with implementing advanced solutions that reduce the risk of accidents, as well as strengthening the body frame using high-strength steel.
