The monument to the Stig, whose identity has never been revealed, was made of fiberglass. The statue was erected in honor of the premiere of the new season of the show, scheduled for May 29.
Initially, the BBC planned to show the first episode of Top Gear with new hosts on May 8, but for unknown reasons, the debut of the show was postponed.

As Autoportal already reported, the new hosts of Top Gear are: Rory Reid (a well-known automotive journalist), Sabine Schmitz (a German racing driver), Matt LeBlanc (an actor from the TV series "Friends"), Chris Evans (a radio host of a popular morning show), Chris Harris (an automotive journalist from Autocar and Evo), and Eddie Jordan (former owner of the Formula 1 team Jordan Grand Prix).
The previous hosts of Top Gear (Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May) launched a new automotive show called The Grand Tour (abbreviated as GT), whose debut is scheduled for autumn 2016.
