Let's create modern digital motorsport in Ukraine together

World motorsport is going through hard times – due to the rapid spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, international competitions are being postponed and canceled, entire national championships are being canceled. It is at this moment that digital motorsport has become most widespread.

Virtual racing has attracted the attention of leading racers, world champions, renowned car manufacturers and their sports divisions, as well as amateur athletes from various countries. It is a great opportunity not only to try your hand at motorsport for the first time, but also to maintain physical fitness, learn track configurations, adapt to the car's behavior in different weather conditions, set up the chassis, and improve cooperation between the driver and the race engineer.

However, the main thing is the competition, which is so lacking for both racers and fans in quarantine. Millions of fans are following the events on virtual tracks. Many spectators can now take part in such races themselves and compete on equal terms with world-class drivers.

In a number of countries, automobile federations that are members of the FIA have already recognized virtual competitions as an official discipline of motorsport.

The Automobile Federation of Ukraine has also decided to support digital motorsport — the FAU has established a Commission for Digital Motorsport with the following tasks:

ensuring the FAU's activities in the field of digital motorsport in accordance with the statute;
promoting the comprehensive development of this direction;
attracting people to digital motorsport, supporting the rights of federation members and others wishing to engage in it, including professionally, and participating in official international competitions;
preparing athletes for national teams and popularizing digital motorsport;
developing international cooperation, studying and implementing foreign experience in Ukraine;
compiling a calendar of events and competitions;
aligning the FAU's regulatory documents with FIA requirements, national rules, and Ukrainian legislation;
ensuring unified methodological approaches to the rules of holding competitions in all disciplines of digital motorsport.

In the near future, the FAU and the Commission plan to organize the first virtual motorsport competitions. Details will appear on the federation's official website.
