No, the cameras are not broken – they are working properly. The thing is, on most streets in the historic center of the French capital, a speed limit of 30 km/h has been introduced. During their runs, Parisians sometimes exceed this speed, and the cameras photograph them.

One of the sports clothing and equipment stores decided to take advantage of the situation – it launched the Outlaw Runners project. Trained athletes deliberately ran at speeds exceeding 30 km/h near the speed cameras. Among them were both amateurs and French champions Lena Kandissounon and Quentin Malricq.
Naturally, pedestrians were not fined. Photos and screenshots from police cameras showing the athletes' speeds were then posted on social media. It turned out to be very original advertising.
