All the necessary agreements have already been reached, and now the issue boils down solely to financing. Oleksandr Popov, the head of the Kyiv city administration, said that road construction work will begin immediately after funds are received.
The choice was made in favor of construction on an embankment, which will require the demolition of 185 metal garages that obstruct the route. Refusing a long overpass makes it possible to significantly speed up the process and reduce costs. All work is planned to be completed within one year.
The extension of the Big Ring Road, together with a new interchange at the intersection with Bohatyrska Street, should ease traffic on Poliarna, Maiorova, Minskyi Prospekt, and Shevchenko Square. It is also expected that Teligy and Frunze streets will become freer, and the relief will affect Petrivka, Moskovskyi Prospekt, and Novokostiantynivska.
Further plans include the construction of an interchange on Obolonskyi Prospekt. However, these works will only begin after the start of construction of the Northern Tunnel under the Dnipro, which will connect Troieshchyna with Obolon. According to the master plan, the implementation of this project is scheduled for 2025.
