In Russia, for the first time under CASCO policies, insurance companies are beginning to practice the restoration of parts damaged in accidents instead of replacing them with new components.
The reason was the doubling of the cost of automotive components in the Russian Federation, as well as the disappearance of a number of items from the market due to supply disruptions and restrictions that followed Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
According to Russian automotive publications, prices for popular spare parts, including analogues of consumables, have increased significantly. Original parts have become two to three times more expensive, Chinese ones — twice as expensive. There is a shortage of all types of filters — air, oil, cabin, and fuel. In addition, bumpers, doors, and fenders are hard to find.
It is also worth mentioning that from the end of April, Russian car factories will be allowed to lower the environmental class of engines (down to Euro-0) and assemble cars without the Glonass system, ABS, ESP, and airbags.
