First generation
The basis for the first version of the car was the already familiar Nissan FF-S platform. A key feature of the model is a non-standard interior solution: the instrument cluster is placed in the center of the front panel. In addition, Nissan X-Trail stood out with a number of other advantages:
- gasoline engines with a displacement of 2.0 and 2.5 liters, as well as a turbocharged version at 2.0;
- some exterior features borrowed from the Nissan Patrol;
- for the domestic Japanese market, a version with a turbo engine was offered.
Global sales went briskly from 2000 to 2007. The 2003 update made it possible to eliminate failures in electronic control units.
Second generation
The second generation Nissan X-Trail was produced until 2014 and received a more spacious body. The instrument panel moved to its usual place - directly in front of the driver. The crossover was based on the Nissan C series platform, shared with the Qashqai.
What changed in the design:
- manual transmission;
- diesel turbo engine with 150 hp paired with a six-speed automatic transmission;
- the rear axle is connected via a multi-disc clutch.
Although sales of this generation ended in Ukraine in 2014, on the OLX platform there are still many offers from those years in various trim levels.
Third generation
Serial production of the latest generation started in 2014 on the modular CMF platform, which again had common components with the "Qashqai". Nevertheless, the Nissan X-Trail surpasses it in almost all respects - especially in dimensions and the set of built-in electronic assistants.
For example, models produced since 2014 have acquired surround-view cameras, a blind spot monitoring system, and a parking assistant. With each new generation, the level of safety grows, the appearance improves, and power indicators improve.
