The first car rolled off the assembly line at the company's plant in Kvasiny, Czech Republic. The car will be available in liftback and estate body styles. In Russia, the flagship model will appear in the autumn of this year.
The third-generation Superb can be distinguished by its front bumper, a new larger radiator grille, and headlights (now fully LED). The new headlights are called Skoda Crystal Lighting — they consist of four LED elements, have dynamic turn indicators, and separate strips of LEDs.
Even in the standard trim, the car has a keyless entry system, and in the top Laurin & Klement version, the front seats can be equipped with ventilation and massage functions. The interior features new seats and numerous chrome elements.
The base engine for the updated Skoda Superb is a 120-horsepower 1.6 TDI diesel paired with a seven-speed DSG. One step up are new two-liter diesels with outputs of 150 and 190 hp, with a six-speed manual or the same DSG, and the more powerful one can work with optional all-wheel drive. The range of petrol engines opens with a 1.5 TSI engine producing 150 hp with a manual or DSG, followed by a two-liter engine in versions with 190 and 272 horsepower, with the latter only with all-wheel drive and DSG.
Later, production of a hybrid version of the Superb will begin. Such a car is equipped with a 156-horsepower 1.4 TSI petrol engine and an electric motor with an output of 85 kW, and the maximum power of the unit is 218 horsepower. A battery with a capacity of 13 kWh allows you to travel up to 55 kilometers on electric power. The charge can be replenished from a household outlet, and the maximum range reaches 850 kilometers.
