As part of an initiative that received over 10 million hryvnias in funding, three new reservoirs were built at the facility, each with a capacity of 2,000 cubic meters. As a result, the total storage capacity at the base increased from 4,000 to 10,000 cubic meters.
“The Chernyakhiv oil depot mainly supplies OKKO gas stations in Kyiv and the region. In recent years, the company has expanded its presence and increased sales volumes in this region, so there was a need for modern fuel storage facilities to meet demand steadily and without delays,” comments Vasyl Kindiy, head of the OKKO oil depot network. “Along with the launch of the reservoirs, we updated the quality control laboratory at the base and created infrastructure that ensures the environmental and technogenic safety of the facility.”
Two gas balancing systems have been installed on the territory of the base, designed to capture petroleum product vapors so they are not released into the air. The first is connected directly to the reservoirs, and the second to the tanker truck loading point. Concrete bunding has been built around the new tanks: even in the event of an emergency leak, the fuel will remain inside this structure and will not seep into the ground. Each reservoir is equipped with an electronic metering system, industrial drainage, and a separate foam generator. Additionally, the base has a fire water reservoir with a motor-driven pump.
Vasyl Kindiy noted that the launch of the second phase of the Chernyakhiv oil depot is one of the largest infrastructure projects that the OKKO network has implemented recently. This is a complex construction task, as the weight of one reservoir reaches approximately 60 tons. Installation is carried out by unrolling sheet metal wound into rolls up to 12 meters high. To deliver such rolls to the site, a special road train is assembled.
