The modern automotive market today is impossible to imagine without innovations, the manufacturer's reputation, and its position among competitors. These factors determine ratings and media attention.
Now, a buyer choosing tires will no longer have to study specialized publications — all the necessary information about the model is applied directly to the sidewall in the form of a special sticker-marker. It indicates three key parameters: noise level, braking distance, and rolling resistance. Moreover, the last two points directly relate to the products of the "green" line.
Rolling resistance
When creating the Cinturato P1 model, Pirelli engineers focused on environmental friendliness. The result of the work was a reduction in rolling resistance by a quarter (25%), which positively affected fuel consumption and reduced harmful emissions by 4%. These results were achieved through a recycled carcass, a lighter construction, a new tread pattern, and a modified rubber compound.
The task was not easy, because it was necessary to modernize a product created using advanced technologies.
Nevertheless, the goal was achieved. Tests showed that P1 tires operate almost silently even on roads with mediocre asphalt, and the tests were conducted on an electric vehicle.
Compared to its predecessor, the Cinturato P4 model, the noise level was reduced by 1 dB. Specialists attribute this improvement to the refinement of the tire's shoulder zones.
In addition, the new product turned out to be safer than the old P4. In an emergency braking test on a wet road, the braking distance of the P1 was 4% shorter than that of its predecessor.
The issue of puncture resistance was considered separately. Existing Run Flat and Seal Inside technologies did not solve the problem, as they make the tire heavier, which worsens its environmental characteristics. So the choice remains with the driver: either priority on lightness and fuel efficiency with safety, or resistance to damage.
Eco-friendly Cinturato P1 tires perform confidently both in city traffic and on the highway. The range of available sizes and speed indices from the manufacturer is quite wide.
