At the finale of the transcontinental tour "Challenge of One Hundred Degrees of Longitude," Geely signed a strategic partnership agreement with Shell, which takes the companies' interaction beyond working with lubricants. The document includes a roadmap and a plan of specific steps, expanding cooperation in research and development, exploring new markets and strengthening positions in existing ones, and also provides for joint projects in motorsport and social responsibility under a single brand. In addition, Geely and Shell intend to jointly work on digital initiatives and developments in the field of new energy.

It is worth noting that the cooperation between Geely and Shell in the field of motor oils for Geely engines has been ongoing since 2006. During this time, the companies have successfully interacted in production, service, and motorsport.

The Eurasian tour "Challenge of One Hundred Degrees of Longitude" stretched over more than a month and ended in Goodwood. The convoy, consisting of new Geely Atlas (Bo Yue) crossovers, traveled over 18 thousand kilometers across Asia and Europe, visiting 58 cities in nine countries. Along the way, participants encountered many obstacles — from road to weather — and also crossed 108 degrees of longitude and three climatic zones. This tour demonstrated not only the suitability of the Geely Atlas (Geely Bo Yue) for long-distance travel, but also the reliability of the car, the quality of assembly, and its character, which significantly increased the perception of Chinese brands. During the route, the Geely Atlas smart crossover was tested at the Shell technology center in Hamburg, participated in races on the legendary Nürburgring track, and in Goodwood became the central figure of off-road test drives.

The deepening partnership between Geely Auto Group and Shell marks a new stage in the globalization of Chinese automakers. Geely Auto Group, being one of the leaders among Chinese brands, plans a large-scale expansion into the global market and strives to become a full-fledged player in the global automotive industry. In 2018, the company intends to open a new design studio for the Lotus brand in the UK, as well as a research center in Europe, which will be part of a system of five major research institutes and five world design studios. Currently, more than 15,000 specialists from 40 countries work in Geely's research divisions.
