Honda filed a patent application on May 27 of this year. The author of the development is listed as Izumi Masao. According to AutoGuide, the new gearbox should reduce response time during shifting, speed up the gear change process itself, and have a positive effect on fuel consumption.
Currently, Honda's lineup includes a nine-speed automatic transmission developed jointly with the German company ZF, as well as a nine-speed gearbox with two clutches used on the hybrid supercar NSX.
In addition, ten-speed automatic transmissions are already used by Ford and General Motors. Such a gearbox is installed, in particular, on the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 and Ford F-150.
