When creating the new model, engineers are applying the developments used in the AM-RB 001 hybrid hypercar, which was developed in partnership with Red Bull and with the participation of Adrian Newey. According to company representatives, all projects of the special division eventually become the basis for future production cars. The AM-RB 001 concept lays the foundation for the appearance of a mid-engined car in the Aston Martin lineup.

The brand's chief designer also revealed details regarding the powertrain of the AM-RB 001. The super hybrid will receive a new twelve-cylinder engine, which in dimensions and weight will be inferior to the biturbo V12 with a volume of 5.2 liters installed on the DB11. The new engine will be capable of revving up to 11 thousand revolutions per minute. Earlier, there were suggestions that the hybrid system would be based on the seven-liter V12 from the track hypercar Vulcan.
The first showing of the prototype of the joint super hybrid by Aston Martin and Red Bull took place in early July. According to unofficial information, the company plans to produce from 99 to 150 cars for public roads and 25 units intended for the track. The approximate price of the new product is about 3.3 million euros. First deliveries to customers will begin in 2017.
