According to Reuters, about 2.87 million cars will be sent for service due to the risk of fuel leakage. The list for repair includes the Prius hybrid, the compact hatchback Auris, and the Corolla series, produced between 2006 and 2015.
Additionally, 1.43 million cars are subject to recall due to faulty airbags supplied by Takata. The problem is related to defective inflators that can cause airbags to deploy too forcefully or activate slowly. This campaign will cover Toyota Prius and Lexus CT200 hybrids that came off the assembly line in 2010–2012.
The previous Toyota recall due to defective Takata airbags was announced in late May. At that time, it concerned 1.6 million cars, including Corolla, Matrix, Yaris, 4Runner, Sienna, Scion xB, as well as Lexus ES, GX, and IS models produced in 2006–2011.
