The new generation of the model will appear at European dealers already in December 2015. On the outside, the Mercedes GLS can be recognized by its modified bumpers, a different radiator grille, fresh wheel rim designs, and updated LED optics.

Inside, there are new seats, a redesigned center console, a touchpad, and an improved multimedia system with a screen in a tablet form factor.

The range of power units consists of a 3.0-liter gasoline V6 with an output of 362 horsepower, a 4.7-liter gasoline engine with 455 horsepower, and a 5.5-liter engine with a capacity of 577 hp. Depending on the selected engine, the GLS is equipped with either the 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission or the refined AMG SPEEDSHIFT PLUS 7G-TRONIC automatic gearbox.

It is worth noting that in the near future, all Mercedes SUVs will switch to a new naming system: their names will begin with the letter "G" and consist of three letters, as with the G-Class.
