Volvo has begun road testing the future XC40, which is expected to hit the market within the next two to three years. Don't judge the design of the new model by these photos, as we are looking at a test "mule" based on the current V40 hatchback with a modified body.
It is reported that the Volvo XC40 will be built on the new modular CMA platform, developed jointly with the Chinese company Geely, which, as is known, owns the Swedish brand. As for the exterior, it is possible that the car will be styled after the new Volvo XC90.
The manufacturer's plans include replacing the V40 model with a range of compact vehicles on one platform, including a crossover, hatchback, and sedan.
