The sports parallel was suggested by the initiative of the UDAR party — its bill No. 4238, providing for the abolition of the recycling fee and excise tax on converted cars, managed to pass the first reading. This was largely facilitated by "support from the stands" — active speeches by radical-minded Ukrainian citizens gathered near the walls of the Verkhovna Rada.

If the recycling fee is abolished, new cars will become noticeably more affordable, and used ones even more so. It is difficult to name the exact amount of savings, since it depends on engine displacement, year of manufacture and corresponding coefficients, but for a new car with a 1.6-liter engine you will have to pay 8 thousand UAH less.
Whether parliamentarians will make amendments to this document will become clear soon.
Automakers found themselves somewhat in the shadows, but got their bonus thanks to the bill by Arseniy Yatsenyuk, titled "On Preventing Financial Catastrophe and Creating Prerequisites for Economic Growth in Ukraine" (No. 4576).
This document increases excise rates on new cars as follows:
- engines with a displacement of less than 1 liter — instead of 5 euro cents per 1 "cube" now 10 euro cents;
- cars with engines from 1 to 1.5 liters — was 3 euro cents, became 6 euro cents;
- engines from 1.5 to 2.2 liters — was 16 euro cents, became 32 euro cents;
- cars with engines from 2.2 to 3 liters — was 65 euro cents, became 1.3 euros.
In other words, the excise tax on the same car with a 1.6-liter engine will double and amount to 512 euros.

Enterprises engaged in semi-knocked-down assembly were not ignored either — the excise tax on bodies was doubled:
- up to 218 euros for bodies for new cars (previously 109 euros);
- up to 872 euros for used bodies (previously 436 euros).
Against this background, the doubling of the excise tax on diesel fuel looks almost imperceptible — now it is 96 euros per ton instead of the previous 48 euros. This will lead to an increase in diesel prices by 1–1.5 UAH.
As a result, an ordinary driver gets a reduction in the price of a new car with a 1.6-liter engine thanks to the UDAR initiative by about 8 thousand UAH, and an increase due to law No. 4576 — about 4000 hryvnias. But the abolition of the recycling fee is still awaiting further votes, while the increase in excise taxes has already come into force!
