In places where technical conditions allow, it is planned to install storm grates and hatches made of polymer materials. They will be of no interest to intruders, as they contain no metal elements at all.
And where, for various reasons, the installation of polymer products is not yet possible, special locking mechanisms will be used. Such locks will help not only prevent theft, but also protect the covers from unintentional displacement from their installation site.
Among the additional advantages, polymer hatches are significantly cheaper than cast iron counterparts, which will save some funds from the city budget.
These simple but effective methods have been adopted by the current leadership of the Kyiv City State Administration from European practice. In addition to improving the quality of the road surface, such steps will contribute to the creation of new jobs: capital companies will be engaged in the production of hatches and locks.
