The first to be removed, at the end of March, will be routes No. 561 (Sviatoshyn metro - Chaika), No. 502 (Zalky St. - Honhadze Ave.) and No. 248 (Livoberezhna metro - Slavutych Hotel). In total (together with those closed last year), 24 routes will be removed.
"We are developing a transport scheme, studying passenger flows, and communicating with residents to understand the needs of passengers," said Yevhen Vodovozov, director of the Department of Transport Infrastructure of the Kyiv City State Administration. "We do not aim to remove all minibuses. People should find it convenient to use transport."
Kyivpastrans, in turn, notes that it is premature to talk about closing routes, because "Bohdans" and "Ethalons" need to be replaced with something, and currently, Kyivpastrans has only 45 buses in reserve.
The carriers themselves claim that city authorities do not have the right to close a route without grounds - "To open or close a route, there must be a reason. Passenger flow needs to be studied. And routes should be closed only if there are no passengers," says Valerii Lypetskyi, chairman of the Kyiv Organization of Employer-Carriers.
