The pickup's exterior almost completely replicates the familiar Nissan Navara, but the main emphasis is on the powerful engine and outstanding traction characteristics of the 2.8-liter unit.

The diesel Frontier produces 200 hp and 475 Nm of torque. Compared to the gasoline modification available in the US with a V6 and an 8-speed automatic from ZF, the diesel consumes 35% less fuel while maintaining similar dynamic characteristics.

The manufacturer has not yet disclosed the exact launch dates for the production version, but most likely it should be expected in 2015. The release of the diesel Frontier will be accompanied by the arrival of the Nissan Titan with a 5.0-liter V8 turbodiesel from Cummins, sales of which are planned for next year.
