The main factor that caused a sharp deterioration of the crime situation in the capital, the police call the political situation. A large number of visitors in the city attracts criminals of various calibers here.
In principle, criminal groups do not let "guest performers" into their territory and severely punish for such "work". But now the number of political orders for arson and damage to property has increased significantly. Car thieves who decided to take advantage of this situation have also become more active.

So in January, a record number of car thefts – 40 cars – was recorded in the capital. This rating is headed by the permanent leader – products of AvtoVAZ. VAZs are valued by car thieves for their affordability and high demand for spare parts, which are easier to sell than the whole car. In January, ten VAZ cars were stolen in the capital.
In second place in popularity among car thieves is the Toyota brand, six cars were stolen. Also disappeared: 5 BMWs, 5 Mazdas, four Mitsubishis and cars of other brands. The most dangerous places in the traffic police are called courtyards in residential areas, and cars were most often stolen from Zabolotnogo, Urlovskaya, Sivashskaya and Bulakhovskogo streets.
The police promise additional police patrols on the streets of the city and ask drivers to additionally protect their vehicles. Hidden keys built into the car's electrical system help well against theft. These systems block the engine if there is no native electronic key.
With arson, everything is much more complicated. The police talk about a political order for most of the burned cars. According to law enforcement officers, for arson and theft of "ordered" cars they pay from $1,000 to $3,000 depending on the model, writes Vesti

In this case, you can somehow protect your "iron friend" only by putting the car in a garage or in a guarded parking lot. For long-term storage in the parking lot, it is better to even remove the license plates.
