The crossing where the accident occurred is equipped not only with a barrier but also with a traffic light with a sound signal. However, the bus driver, clearly in a hurry, disregarded all the signs and drove out right in front of the train.
Due to the significant braking distance of the locomotive, the minibus was dragged a long distance from the scene of the incident after the impact. The bus was torn in two, and 13 passengers died instantly. Five more people were injured, sustaining injuries of varying severity.
The accident happened with a passenger train traveling on the route "Kharkiv-Vorozhba". An investigative team is working at the scene.
