New diesel engines, first of all, should boost demand for American cars abroad. At the same time, Cadillac's senior vice president Robert Ferguson is confident that such powertrains will appear in all models of the brand, and their efficiency will quickly win the trust of pragmatic US residents.
Most of all, Ferguson wants to see such an engine under the hood of the flagship SUV Cadillac Escalade. In the domestic market, this model enjoys steady demand, but the growth of export supplies is constrained precisely by the lack of an economical diesel.
In addition, Cadillac is seriously considering the release of a compact crossover. According to Robert, this model will be able to compete worthily in the premium class with the Mercedes-Benz GLA and Audi Q3. Such a car will likely soon appear in the brand's lineup, and it will also be available with a diesel engine.
Ferguson does not disclose which specific engines will be used and what characteristics they will have, but the company's intentions to introduce diesels look very decisive.
