Closer to midnight, motorcades will be required to split into columns of no more than five cars, and drivers who block roads or government buildings face up to a year in prison. However, Kyiv residents will most likely not care about this — the capital's roads already resemble continuous car queues.
One cannot ignore the law on recording violations with cameras, as well as the related "letters of happiness." However, before it comes into force, you need to wait about another month — it will only take effect on February 20.
Traffic police officers assure: the new law on photo recording of violations will become protection for law-abiding drivers from "rich kids." They say that with automatic control systems, the latter will no longer be able to negotiate.
The State Traffic Inspectorate management seems to forget that behind these systems are the same people who, with one phone call, can delete an unwanted fragment of a recording, citing a technical failure. But one way or another, these cameras will still be able to bring some order to the roads.
Let us remind you that the following violations will be recorded automatically:
- exceeding the permitted speed;
- driving through a prohibitory traffic light signal;
- ignoring the ban on driving on sidewalks or pedestrian zones;
- driving into the oncoming lane;
- failure to comply with the rules for crossing railway crossings.
