The German automobile club managed to quickly find a "scapegoat" — it was the head of the public relations department, Michael Ramstetter, who also heads the specialized magazine. However, even the most gullible people are unlikely to believe that all the falsifications were the work of just one man. ADAC ranks second among world automobile associations, second only to the American Automobile Association. The circulation of the publication "ADACmotorwelt" reaches 14 million copies!
Ramstetter admitted that he falsified the voting data, as a result of which the new generation of the Volkswagen Golf was named the most popular car. He insists that, although the actual number of votes turned out to be less than the declared 34 thousand, it was the Golf that still received the majority of support.
However, after the deception was revealed, the largest European association of motorists lost the trust not only of ordinary drivers. BMW and Volkswagen immediately refused to refer to the results of the Gelber Engel competition. German reporters, who uncovered this story, do not rule out that similar frauds occurred in the past.
