Before lowering the trolleybuses to the bottom, all units containing oil or other technical fluids are, of course, either removed or thoroughly washed. These sunken vehicles are intended to serve as shelter for marine life from fishing vessels and, at the same time, to attract scuba diving enthusiasts.

The "Artificial Reefs" program has been running for two years and has been approved by UNESCO experts. Crimean trolleybuses are a separate page of history, as these are Czechoslovakian Skoda 9Tr vehicles that came off the assembly line from 1961 to 1982.

Now they have been replaced by modern "Bohdans", and a significant part of the old trolleybuses may well turn into a kind of monument to Crimea's past.
