If, as in European countries, recycled tires were added to the road surface in Ukraine, the demand for rubber crumb would be constant, and used tires would not be scattered anywhere. In Ukravtodor, they explain that it is currently impossible to introduce such technology — the necessary equipment has not been purchased for this.
Currently, only two enterprises in the country are capable of fully recycling old tires. The crumb obtained after processing is either sent abroad for further use or used for the production of rubber coatings and even mats.
Tire fitting workshops complain that they are being charged for the removal of old tires. Therefore, they ask customers to take used tires with them or give them to kindergartens and other organizations for arranging flower beds.
After the adoption of the law on recycling fee, the authorities expect that the problem of tire disposal will be solved radically — the state will have funds to purchase equipment for recycling. Drivers will have to pay for this "service" when buying new tires.
It is assumed that when selling new rubber, 2 UAH per kilogram of product will be charged for its subsequent disposal. As a result, tires for Lanos will become more expensive by 40 UAH, and rubber for a larger car, say an SUV, by about 120 UAH.
