The differences of the new version primarily lie in the ability to charge the batteries from a household power outlet. Thus, it is possible to fully replenish the battery charge level in 140 minutes. Sales are scheduled to start in autumn 2016.

The hatchback is powered by a powertrain consisting of a 1.8-liter gasoline engine and an electric motor with 73 horsepower. On electricity, the Prius can travel no more than 48 km, reaching speeds of up to 130 km/h. The maximum range with a full tank of fuel and a charged battery is 965 km.

The new model can be distinguished from the regular Prius hybrid by different headlights, taillights, and a modified front bumper – all of this is done not only to improve the appearance but also for aerodynamic reasons.
