In Japan, sales of the Lexus IS 250C convertible, belonging to the luxury segment, started on May 7. This model was first shown to the public at the Paris Motor Show in October 2008. The transformation of the hard metal roof takes 20 seconds — this is the best indicator among similar convertibles with a solid top.
Compared to the sedan, the IS 250C stands out with a different shape of the front optics, hood, and a number of other minor differences in appearance and interior. However, the technical filling remained unchanged. Under the hood of the convertible, a V-shaped 6-cylinder engine with a volume of 2.5 liters is installed, producing 215 horsepower. The engine's operation is complemented by a six-speed automatic transmission, ensuring smooth gear shifting.
The engineers had to refine the rear suspension: after all, the roof needs to be placed somewhere, and the trunk compartment cannot be abandoned.
On the Japanese market, the minimum configuration of the Lexus IS 250C is estimated at 4,950,000 yen, which is equivalent to approximately 50,000 dollars.
