The electric Renault 5 hatchback is positioned as a budget option: the base trim is estimated at around 20 thousand euros, although this amount likely does not include the battery — it will probably be offered for leasing. Compared to the Renault Zoe, the new model will be a third cheaper. Production capacity is designed for about 400 thousand units annually.

The exterior with flashy headlights and chiseled lines references the original 1972 Renault 5. Visually, the car looks fresh and is aimed at a young audience.

The first technical details of the Renault 5 have become known. It is based on the front-wheel-drive CMF-B architecture, familiar from the current Logan and Sandero, and the body length is 3.9 m.

Under the hood will be a 130 hp unit borrowed from the Renault Megane E-TECH. Buyers will be offered batteries of 40 and 52 kWh, and with the larger block, the range will reach about 400 km.
In the future, a more powerful modification from Alpine is expected, which will be able to reach 100 km/h in less than 6 seconds.
