The December bankruptcy announcement did not stop SsangYong from working on electric models. The first such new product will be the SsangYong Korando electric vehicle — its serial production is scheduled for August. Initially, the start of the assembly line was planned for mid-June, but the global shortage of semiconductor components made adjustments to these dates.

Externally, the electric version of the SsangYong Korando differs from the gasoline one only by a plastic plug instead of the radiator grille, different body kit, and wheels with improved aerodynamics. The technical parameters of the SsangYong e-Korando are still kept secret: according to rumors, the car will be equipped with a 190-horsepower electric motor and a battery with a capacity of 61.5 kWh, and the range will be 420 km.

After the e-Korando, in 2022 a larger electric SUV from SsangYong is expected, known under the factory index J100. Judging by the renders, it will have an aggressive appearance. The third electric model will be a pickup truck. The manufacturer promises that all these cars will have a relatively affordable price.
