According to the artists and journalists of the publication, with the change of generations, the Passat will retain its pronounced appearance, but will acquire features in the spirit of the new Golf 8 and ID.3 electric car. In particular, it will get narrow headlights of complex shape, a "thin" radiator grille and rectangular rear lights that will stretch across the entire width of the car.

At the moment, it is known that the VW Passat B9 will be based on the modular MQB platform, and the new model will be produced only in one body type – a station wagon (its length will be about 4.85 m). The brand decided to abandon the sedan in favor of promoting its corporate sibling, the Skoda Superb liftback.

It is expected that the engine range of the Passat B9 will include a pair of 2.0 TDI diesel engines (with about 150 and 200 horsepower), several TSI petrol engines (about 150 and 220 hp), as well as a hybrid powertrain in two performance versions – with an output of about 200 and 250 horsepower. By the way, the current hybrid Passat travels about 70 km on pure electricity, while the new generation will increase this figure to 100 km.

According to forecasts, the B9 will be more expensive than the B8 model. So, if now you can buy a Volkswagen Passat station wagon in Germany for just over 32,000 euros, its successor will cost at least 35,000 euros.
