The Smart crossover will be built on the completely new modular SEA platform, developed jointly with Geely and Volvo (the Chinese giant is a co-owner of Smart). Production will be set up at the Daimler and Geely joint venture in China.
The crossover will become the largest Smart in history and the first B-class model since the forfour hatchback. Its competitors are called Peugeot e-2008 and DS3 Crossback E-Tense.

Like all modern Smarts, the crossover will be available exclusively in an electric version. Recall that since 2019, the brand has completely abandoned internal combustion engines.
The SEA architecture allows creating electric cars with a range of up to 700 km. Of course, the Smart electric crossover will not be so "long-range", because it will remain quite compact and a large battery will not fit there. But it will travel at least 300 km without recharging.
It is expected that the new Smart electric car will be relatively affordable. The starting price of the crossover will be about 30 thousand euros.
