The first Smart crossover appeared in official images
The first renders of the new Smart model have been presented. As expected, it will be the brand's first crossover. Its concept will be shown in the fall, and sales will start in 2023.
Head of Daimler's design division, Gorden Wagener, has revealed new details about the upcoming Smart crossover and presented its first images. Judging by the published renders, the car will have a taut and sporty appearance with compact overhangs and a raised beltline.
The model is based on the modular SEA architecture, created jointly by Daimler, Geely, and Volvo (the Chinese manufacturer owns a stake in Smart). With a body length of about 4 meters, the new model will become the largest car in the brand's history.
The crossover is expected to be fully electric — since 2019, the brand has abandoned the production of cars with internal combustion engines. The range will be approximately 320 km, and support for 800-volt fast charging will reduce the time needed to replenish energy.
Assembly will be organized at Geely's facilities in China. According to Wagener, the price of the car will be quite affordable — approximately 30 thousand euros.
