The new Mercedes-AMG crossover is aimed at competing with models such as the Lamborghini Urus and Aston Martin DBX, as well as the upcoming Ferrari Purosangue. The platform is likely to be borrowed from the Mercedes-AMG GT four-door coupe.
The dimensions of the new model will be close to those of the Mercedes GLE, but the exterior promises to be unique, with a characteristic wide AMG-style radiator grille. The interior will feature only four individual seats.
Under the hood, according to rumors, there will be a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine available in several versions. Currently, this unit on various Mercedes-AMG models produces from 500 to 630 horsepower.
Versions with a more powerful hybrid powertrain are also being developed. AMG engineers intend to refine the chassis for ideal handling, and the car will likely be equipped with air suspension and a rear-wheel steering system.
