Despite being a fully electric car, it is adorned with a decorative radiator grille with large "nostrils", visually echoing the Concept 4 — the predecessor of the new BMW 4-Series. In front of this grille, a transparent panel is placed, behind which a set of sensors is hidden, responsible for the car's orientation in space during autonomous driving.

The main detail of the interior is a large display that combines a virtual instrument panel and a multimedia system screen. The monitor uses special glass with an anti-glare coating, providing a more contrasting image. The multimedia complex supports flexible interface customization and gesture recognition.

The concept car is powered by an electric unit with 530 hp — this figure is comparable to the output of modern gasoline V8s. For comparison, the same power is developed by an eight-cylinder 4.4-liter engine with twin turbocharging, which is installed on top BMW models such as the 7-Series sedan and X7 crossover.

The BMW i4 accelerates to 100 km/h in 4 seconds, and its top speed is limited to 200 km/h. The battery pack with a capacity of 80 kWh provides a range of up to 600 kilometers without recharging, and recharging the batteries to 80% takes only 35 minutes.

Serial production of the new model is planned to be launched at the Munich plant in the third quarter of 2021. It was previously reported that BMW intends to introduce 25 new eco-friendly models by 2025, with 12 of them equipped exclusively with electric powertrains.
