The British brand has confirmed last year's rumors about working on a speedster and revealed some details. The new model was developed by two divisions: the Q by Aston Martin atelier and the Aston Martin Design center. The design of the supercar and preparation for small-scale production took more than a year. The two-door is aimed at "driving enthusiasts" and collectors, and was inspired by two Aston models at once.
The design of the V12 Speedster borrows features from the historic racing model DBR1, winner of the 1959 24 Hours of Le Mans and the 1000 Kilometers of Nürburgring marathon, as well as the anniversary CC100 speedster of 2013. The latter was produced in two units to celebrate the brand's centenary, and both cars are currently in private collections.

Direct competitors of the V12 Speedster will be the Ferrari Monza and McLaren Elva.
The Aston Martin V12 Speedster barchetta will be equipped with a 5.2 V12 engine with two turbochargers. Power is 700 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque. This is one of the versions of the unit that is also installed on the DB11 AMR and the limited DBS GT Zagato. The gearbox is an eight-speed ZF automatic arranged in a transaxle layout (shifted to the rear axle).
