Last year, 55 models underwent crash tests, and 41 of them received the maximum five-star rating. After that, experts identified the leaders in seven main categories.
In the "supermini" class, the updated Renault Clio and Audi A1 showed the best results, while the second place went to the compact crossover Ford Puma.
Among small family cars, the Mercedes-Benz CLA took the top spot, and in the large family car category, two models shared the victory — the Tesla Model 3 and BMW 3-Series, which scored an equal number of points. At the same time, the Bavarian model excelled in pedestrian protection, while the American electric car excelled in the functioning of driver assistance systems.
Another Tesla vehicle, the Model X, topped the ranking of large SUVs, ahead of the Seat Tarraco. The Tesla Model 3 was also recognized as the safest among electric cars and hybrids.
In the compact SUV segment, the new Subaru Forester won, and the second place was shared by the Mazda CX-30 and Volkswagen T-Cross.
